Ok, I just bought an EOtech 557, love it. Need to correct my astigmatism though as the BDC dots look like a line going straight down vs actual dots...another reason to get lasik. anyway, my rifle is set up for close quarters, but I wouldn't mind having some magnification at the range. Would rather avoid spending several hundred dollars on the official magnifier if I can, and am looking for a cheap alternative. does a magnifier have to be of good quality to hold zero and work correctly...or can i go with a cheap-o knock off like http://www.ebairsoft.com/magnifier-rifle-scope-p-899.html  ???? Let me know your opinions and thoughts or personal experience.

search for "primary arms" on here, i have one of their 3x's on their QD mount behind a 552 and it works fine.  The mount isn't terribly solid, but it won't affect POI.

Thanks guys, this is perfect. Pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Do you happen to have a pic of looking through the reticles? Do you know if the mount is QD or FTS?

QD, i could get you a pic tonight, it's in a pelican with my 308 in the trunk at the moment.  It's pretty clear, but the sweet spot won't be as big as a real eotech 3x...  Kinda like the diff between a Simmons scope and a good Leupold scope as far as eye relief range and position range.
