I know many people refuse to shoot cheap ammo, but are there any major dangers or downfalls involved?
I was considering some of this ammo...anyone tried it? bulk ammo |

If you just want cheap, go with WOLF 55gr WPA @ AIM for $189.50
Or the M193 posted above And don't let people talk you out of using Wolf, its a little dirty but good ammo. I have been shooting it exclusively for several years now with more than 15,000 rounds through several different carbines with no problems. The main thing you should consider with the cheap stuff is consistency in the powder loadings. I would trust Wolf over USAammo or any of the other remanufacured ammo for powder consistency, here recently there have been 3 KB's posted on this site from USAammo 5.56 ammo. |

Quoted: 2.16K rounds of the milsurp 5.45 stuff from AIM in each of the last 2 shipments I got.How much is the shipping ? Approx $40/shipment to Virginia outside of DC. There's a shipping estimator on the bottom of the order page. Put in your 'order' and your zipcode. You don't have to commit to buy at that stage. |

I'm sure it was a freak deal like with the USA. I use Wolf too and it's not bad but it definitely has it's share of problems too. Given the choice, I'd rather not use Wolf or remanufactured ammo but I do sometimes. Personally as a reloader for me it's just smarter to pay a few dollars more for brass cased ammo. Can't have too much brass. |

I would love to run a premium diet of brass through my AR's but I cant afford it at the volume that I shoot (usually around 1k/month) and reloading at that volume just takes way to much time. |

Ammo doesn't get more explosive with age. It's no secret they have had QC problems with recent production ammo. I've seen it in ammo I've purchased anyway. Not saying I won't buy it again though. I hear you on the reloading thing. Some people don't want to mess with it. But with the proper set up, premium ammo I can trust can be cranked out quickly and at less expense. Buying loaded ammo is great too when I'm too lazy to load. lol! |

May I ask which reloader you are using? I had a Loadmaster 1000 progresive that I set up for high volume reloading but could never get it properly dialed in |

That stuff is NOT cheap.
I don't have a problem shooting steel stuff so I shoot a lot of Wolf and Silver Bear. Check out Fed M193 or PMC if you really want brass. Either way check out AIM, Palmetto, and Wideners for the best prices. My last few ammo purchases have been from AIM... very fast shipping too! |

Palmetto State Armory has cheap shipping, $12 per 1000 rounds. Beats AIM's shipping by a lot, but AIM might also have what you want in stock and for a few dollars cheaper. |

We are hosting a Wounded Warrior shoot and picnic for disabled Vets at my club in early October and I just bought 1K rounds of PMC X-Tac 62 grain for $289.50 and $12 shipping.
I got it through PSA for total of $301.50 to your door. Not a bad deal I thought. We usually go through about 1,200 to 1,500 rounds with the Vets....<><....:) |

I'm using a Lee Load Master. I had a few problems with it at first. Mainly with the primer feed. I used to get primer jam ups. Once I learned I had to make sure the primers didn't get too low, I rarely have problems now. I wish I would have got a Dillon to be honest. Plan on doing so at some point. The Load Master gets the job done but there are better. It really pays off for handgun ammo. It is nice to buy bulk ammo for high volume shooting. I use a lot of Wolf in my 5.45x39 AR and AK. Works great. Like the Silver Bear too. Take care |

my walmart (yeah i know walmart http://www.firearmcentral.com/American%20Eagle%20223%20-3.jpg This. Since we are talking about buying Federal 55gr FMJ .223 from Wal-mart, why pay $0.41/rnd for the Federal 100 round "value" pack, when you can get the same stuff on the shelf above it, only packaged as American Eagle(Federal product) in 20rnd boxes for $0.31/rnd? If you want to go even cheaper, you can buy the Tulammo which is probably 2 shelves below that, for $0.26/rnd, but for $1 more per box, I will buy the American-made brass cased AE .223.
None of these are better than some of the deals that you can find on-line, but if you don't have $250-$300+ to spend on ammo at one time, $5.97/box for brass is pretty hard to beat. I have found a couple brass cases of AE .223 that had small dimples in them (still perfectly shootable), so it may be worth your while to give it a quick eyeballing before you load up your mags. |
