I own several Aimpoint T1's, and they are absolutely amazing optics, and I love them. That being said, they are expensive as hell. I have them on all my "tier1" rifles, that will never leave my collection.
Recently I have bought a couple cheaper AK rifles(O-pap, and some polish and bulgy build kits) as well as some black friday sub $600 ARs, and I want to mount some more budget conscious optics. I do have a vortex sparc on one of my rifles, and its pretty nice for the 125 I payed for it but the dot is kinda blurry, and sometimes its a PITA to turn off, but all in all a good optic especially for the warranty I am looking at buying a few more cheap dots and Im between the primary arms microdots or the bushnell TRS-25's, also looking at the sparc 2's, any one use these or all of them and care to share pros and cons, or have any recommendations? These rifles will be plinking/fun rifles and extras for my friends to use should the S, HTF fyi. |
| I have both an aimpoint (T-1?) clone, and one micro-dot MD-06, iirc,. I really like them both. They have held up very well, and have good battery life. Both are over 2 years old, used 2-3 times/month, 3-4 hours at a time, but only turned on when gun is being shot. Both have held precise zero, even after being QD'd and re-installed. The PA goods, in my experience, have been very good bargains for the money. PA is generally my first stop when looking for new optics for my guns. |
| Primary Arms MD-ADS gets my vote much crisper dot than all the other cheap red dots including their earlier versions, I'm in the same boat as you can't afford to put Tier 1 optics on every firearm I have and this one is the best of all the cheap optics I've tried. Time will tell if it will get the 50k battery life but if it only gets half that I'd be happy regardless. |
| I prefer the EOTech type circle dot reticle in the T-1 size, 4.6 ounce Lucid M7 microdot. Great battery life on a single universably available AAA battery. Auto illumination with manual over ride. About $170. Riser extra. Very rugged. I have two for about a year now, running one on a tactical sbotgun and impervious to heavy recoil. |
