I have a bin full of various buffer springs.  They aren't labeled in bags.

How do I check these springs to see what they are..rifle or carbine, make sure they are in spec, heavy or standard weight?

Thanks.

The rifle ones are a few inches longer.

I have the same situation in my extra bin, with some .308s mixed in.

Yea I can generally tell the difference between rifle and carbine, but some of the carbine springs differ in length from each other, so it gets more complicated.

Carbine springs should be from 10 to 10.5 inches.

Count the rings...... carbine should be 37 and rifle 43. The length being shorter with the same ring count usually means worn spring,,, longer length with the same number of rings generraly indicates an extra power spring.
