I have just become a member here and have been reading all these posts for sometime now, I was curious to know what Lower you guys recommend for my build project, Now I know from extensive reading that most lowers are Identicle other than finish. And what ever lower I get will dictate the upper I get, So I could rephrase the question to say..... whats "best" Parkerized, anodized, teflon coated, or any other I haven't seen. I don't plan to be in any combat so gloss has no problem with me. I just want the most durable. So far I am looking at RRAs lowers and barreled uppers. |

Quoted: You can get any lower or upper and combine them into whatever you want. The only thing that you have to watch out for, till Sept., is the pre-ban/post-ban regs. TRue about the compliancy issues, but I want a finish that matches, at least closely, I have seen some Colt and Bushy combos that make the gun two tone, I would like to stay away from that. And as for the AWB, I am not going to get my hopes up, I will probably still be working on my lower by then, and I can't say I really have to have a bayonet lug, and flash suppressor, A tele-stock would be nice though. |

Well, you really can't go wrong with the big boys. BM fixed the purple issue a while back, and I think Colt is now black. The Century (RRA in disguise), RRA, and DSC lowers that I've seen have been really good and dark. I would suggest that you do the lower first (cheapest part) and then look around at a show until you are happy with the color match. Frankly I haven't worried about it for a while and I've been lucky I guess in getting good matches. YMMV And for the love of Pete, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, mention that you used a hacksaw or a screwdriver on your guns. Hoosierdaddy will have a conniption fit!! |
| The best way to get a good color match is to buy them at the same time. Stock varies, and so can color and texture as things change over the year. Olympic Arms is putting out great looking upper/ lower receivers right now. The fit, finish and color are all top of the line. Whatever problems people have ever had with them, I have not heard ANY complaints about their recent receivers. |

I just built this last week using an Eagle Arms lower and RRA upper. They mated together very nicely, tight. The lower also was a pleasure to assemble. http://telusplanet.net/public/envi/Toys2.jpg http://telusplanet.net/public/envi/Toys3.jpg |
