Someone in another thread mentioned that one should always buy lowers in person so they can be inspected. How else can you buy a lower besides in person? But more importantly, what does one look for when inspecting a lower? Even black finish, excess material machined away, such as the front of the magazine well? Do you actually break out a caliper, or is it more of an overall impression?

I buy lowers off the net and never see them til they show up at the ffl. Get something like a mega and you'll know it's top quality. I don't think many people are capable of doing much more than seeing if the holes seem to be drilled properly. I have had people explain some of the other stuff-like inside the magwell you can tell some stuff about how it was manufactured, I guess, from the lines near the corners.
