| Ordered a gas tube on april 23rd, apparently it was "lost", contacted this business, second one was shipped out? USPS shows no record of it in the system. Anyone ever had any bad dealing with this vender? i am starting to wonder, at this time I am glad I am only out $12. Recieved both items today, will get vendor paid, all is well |

87GN was someone who used to post here a lot. He had some EE feedback issues and decided to give arfcom the cold shoulder. If I recall correctly, he is associated with Citizens Armory and may in fact be the owner.
Good luck on getting your gastube.

It has all the information regarding 87GN in it... as well as 87GN's own email to site staff here on ar15.com. |

Hello All,
I am one of the owners and was the one communicating with dartmark regarding his order. Please be aware he is not "out" any money, we will fully refund him once we give the post office a chance to deliver the 2nd package, which was scanned in when it was dropped off. Also, 87GN is not an owner or employee or involved in our business and is simply a friend. In the interest of full disclosure: the crosslinking on 87GN's blog and our site is a result of this friendship; likewise in return for the link on his blog and as a good friend, we occasionally do free firearms transfers for him. Timeline: 4/22/11 First order placed and shipped; post office lost it before scanning. 4/29/11 customer emails to ask status since it wasn't received, after contacting post office and getting no info,we offer to ship a replacement the next day (4/30/11). Customer emails back "no big deal...." 4/30/11 Order is shipped, with Post Office Acceptance scan. 5/2/11 Customer emails us saying: Ok, 2 tries, no tracking info, no parts, I quit give me my money back this isnt working anymore, I would rather pay a little more and recieve it than buy it cheap and get nothing. We reply back that we would like to give the post office 2 more days before initiating the refund. Since we cannot initiate lost package documentation/tracing until 5 working days have passed, we felt this was reasonable.
He replied: thats fine, but i dont think i will do any more business with you. But then 2 hours later emailed us saying: this pkg has been in the system 3 days already, the first pkg is in transit over 8 or 9 days, should have both been here by now, what exactly would you like from me. I paid for the item and have never recieved it? I think i have been more than patient.
5/3/11 We replied to explain our position: We understand you have been patient and we appreciate that, however please be aware that first class mail does not offer guaranteed delivery times and the Post Office will not even document a missing or delayed first class mail package until 5 working days after mailing. Since the post office never scanned the first package, they could not give us additional information when we contacted them. This is why I handed the 2nd package to a live person instead of using the drop bin (thus the Acceptance scan).
Additionally, when I told you I would ship you a replacement order you did not indicate it was time sensitive. When you told us "no big deal...." it seemed to indicate you were understanding that sometimes packages are lost and were ok with waiting for the replacement. We are hesitant to immediately refund your order because it may still be delivered in the next few days. If we refund you now, and the package arrives late then at that point you would either need to send it back to us at your expense, or authorize us to re-process payment. If the gas tube does not arrive you will get a full refund, but please allow us to follow the procedures that the USPS has outlined in these situations. The postal service is imperfect and sometimes misplaces packages or loses them without a trace. They are however usually faster and a substantially better value than UPS or Fedex. Like I mentioned earlier we have never had this much trouble getting an order to someone, and for that I do apologize yet again, however all of these problems have been out of our control and we are doing our best to resolve it in a timely manner than can be acceptable to both you, the customer, as well as us. He replied with: thanks for your reply,You are correct, it is not time sensitive, I do need it, but have reorder from another supplier, That being daid do not worry about the refund, i realize that you are out 2 items, therefore you can keep the funds i will simply write the money off as a loss. Thanks
We do intend to fully refund his money this week if the package "tracking" doesn't update, we just wanted to give the post office time to deliver the 2nd package, since unfortunately sometimes packages are delayed for days without a scan and appear at a later date. We felt it was a reasonable request to wait a couple more days. If the package does arrive and he wishes to return it to us in light of his other order, we will fully refund him. We strive to give customers a level of service that we would want to receive from a business. Up to now we have met that goal in spite of several packages lost by the post office, and we always do the right thing and either get the customer what they ordered or in rare cases refund them if they prefer. (We initiate the refund once our followup is done with the USPS- typically within a week of mailing). We believe we have acted reasonably given the circumstances, but if Arfcom believes otherwise, we can take a look at our policies and decision making process going forward to ensure a better customer experience. I am here to address any concerns regarding this issue as we plan to pay for dealer status on ar15.com once we have the advertising budget to do so. We formed our company to fill a perceived market demand and like to hear from our customers on how to improve. I would have posted sooner but I wanted to check with site staff before replying to make sure I was not in violation of the site advertising policy. |

I have made purchases from Citizens Armory and thier reputation is GREAT with me. The communication was excellent, prices wonderful, and the shipping was the cheapest cost around, delivery was very fast.
I will be placing another order very soon and will post back with the results of this newest order. By my expierneces with them (Nick) they are a great honest company....<><....:) P.S. I agree with the post about it being a Post Office problem, they are the ones who should be chastised, not an honest and caring vendor....<><....:) |

My friend, this is the problem with the Post Office. Tracking just SUCKS. UPS is far better in this regard. I know USPS is cheaper, but as a business, I would think UPS is worth the peace of mind. We do offer the choice of UPS, but it is almost never chosen by our customers because it costs much more than USPS for smaller packages. Quoted:
this lengthy post has not resolved this issue, yes after multiple emails I still have no part, and no refund, and yes he can keep the $12 he has gone to great lengths to earn it. The lengthy post was to tell our side of the story as completely as possible. And as promised, 2 days have passed with no USPS update, so I have just submitted a full refund to your credit card. It will process in today's batch close and should appear on your statement soon. If one or both of the packages does eventually show up, we would appreciate their return. It is very possible for packages to disappear in the USPS system for a week or 2 and suddenly resurface. |
| I have the same problem with TNVC and still I havent seen my part or my 40 Bucks.... Im going to stick with companies who dont charge the card till it ships... Oh well I learned a lesson with the 40 bucks...I does not bother me if someone is busy but you deserve an answer to your E-Mails or a call back that I dont have it in stock and when Ill send it out.....Ive been lucky and only lost money twice both times little amounts...... |
| After reading this it seems the problem isn't with Citizens Armory....it's with the USPS. I'm sure you'll get your part, whenever the USPS feels like delivering it. I just played this game with them (USPS) a few weeks ago for a lost package that took a month to arrive. So if you get both of the parts they sent you....are you gonna send one back? CA is out 2 items with payment for only 1, if/when they refund your money, they'll be out 2 items and not paid for any. Quit being a martyr, you're not out $12. They'll refund your money, just let the Post Office try and do their job for a bit. The problems of having a buisness where you ship more than you sell in a brick and mortor store are endless. Instead of bitching here, call or write the USPS and have them hunt down your packages. You'll get far better results finding them there....rather than here. For what it's worth, the part I ordered from CA arrived in 2 days, as advertised, and of good quality. NO ONE offers small parts cheaper, belive me, as a cheap bastard myself....I looked everywhere. |
| Look, I can see both sides of the story. My wife ordered a book from one of Amazon.com's resellers before. 2 weeks and no package. So the woman sent my wife a refund, it was the only copy she had. My wife ordered one from somewhere else and got it it a couple of days. 3 MONTHS later, the original book showed up in our mailbox. USPS had lost the package for 3 months in Indiana. So my wife sent the woman a check and kept the book. The woman was very grateful for my wifes honesty. I really hate shipping anything USPS. If you have a tracking number, it doesn't matter either. You just know where it last got lost. Its not like they are going to send anyone looking for it. We've had packages, letters, money orders and everything in between lost by USPS. If its something 1/2 way important, I now choose UPS. Its more expensive, but 1000 times more reliable. Like anything else, id rather spend a few bucks upfront, than have to deal with the headaches later. |
