I replaced my flash suppressor and discovered that the muzzle had a lot of carbon buildup. Do I need to clean this? If I do need to clean it how often should I take off the flash suppressor to do it? I don't think I can clean it without taking off the flash suppressor. Thanks! |

Quibs a sharp cookie and delivers sound advice. That said, I have never bothered to clean the crown area and have seen no adverse affects. That goes for the DCM M14 I used to shoot, my garand, and several AR's over the years. You also risk damaging the crown/champfer if you get over zeleous and nick the bastard. To me it's like the gas tube. No cleaning needed. Just my 2c. |

Never did like that idea but the rifles were not mine either.
