Searched, but no luck.......... I have..... M4 Carbine Red Dot Mbus Rear Std. Front Co-Witness absolute desired What procedures do I use to sight this rig in, red dot and irons? Any help is much appreciated. I'm new to this, so please be gentle. Thanks! |

Quoted: I zero the irons first, match the red dot to what the irons are (dot aligned right on top of front sight post, with proper front/rear sight alignment), then verify/tweak the red dot by itself with the irons folded or out of the way. First post nails it! +1! |

First post nails it! +1! That's how you do it. I also suggest that you adjust one plane (az or el) at a time when zeroing your RDS...some people have a problem when trying to adjust both at the same time and end up chasing the dot around the target. |
| I have also found that irons first will be easiest. Just position the dot on your front post and you will only have to make very slight adjustments. Your zeroing method won't have anything to do with how well you cowitness, if your irons and red dot are zeroed to the same range they will always cowitness unless your optic has some really horrible paralax issues. The only factor that determines your style of cowitness (absolute, 1/3, etc) will be your mounting height in relation to the irons. Absoltue cowitness means that the irons, when aligned, will appear in the center of the optic, a 1/3 means that the irons will be in the lower 1/3 of the sight picture, but in either case the dot will appear to be hovering on the tip of the front sight post. |
