I staked my bolt "properly" finally but now I would like to refinish it where I moved the metal to stake it with my MOACKS.  I know I know who cares cause nobody will see it but I just want to do it.  What is an easy product to use?  I got a Presto Gun Blue Pen but it didn't work too good.

Birchwood Casey makes a pretty decent liquid gun blue, you should be able to find this at WalMart. My favorite is G96 brand, which I have only found by searching the web. The G96 gives a very uniform, rich, dark blue or black color if you will.

The key to any cold liquid blue or aluma-black application is proper degreasing. I use brake cleaner or denatured alcohol to completely degrease parts before applying cold liquid blue. In some cases multiple applications are necessary with proper degreasing between each application.

I know you stated you don’t care, but there really is not need to apply a finish to the stakes on your BC. This is purely for looks and will serve no purpose. Over time your bolt carrier will wear in areas a lot more than what was caused to your gas key by the staking tool. Proper lubrication is the key to maintaining these area with finish wear.
