Maybe I am the only guy who just realized this but not all collapsable stocks are the same length. I recently picked up a BFI-Windham, ME lower with Bushmaster's 6-position stock and it quickly became apparent that it was longer than my others so I measured. I really like the Bushmaster which has a 1 1/8" longer length-of-pull than the Colt and the better sight picture it gives me as I wear glasses.
Measured from rear of receiver to centerline of buffer tube at butt rounded to about the nearest 1/16": Bushmaster 6-pos: 7 1/2" - 11 1/4" DSA 6-pos: 7 3/8" - 10 5/8" Colt 6920 M4: 6 7/8" - 10 1/8" ASA 4-pos early CAR style: 6 3/4" - 10" (Bought this for a carbine I built to get as light as possible and it is a bargain at $32.50 for the complete assembly, excellent quality, correct mil-spec buffer, strong buffer spring) Maybe some of you can measure other brands and post the length. From now on I am only buying the longer stock but don't care for the Bushmaster logo necessarily unless it is on a BFI rifle. |

Your measuring system is not the same as used by manufacturers, but I do know that the Magpul ACS has one of the longer total length of pull stocks, fully extended, on the market, if that is what you are seeking. Here are their specs:
Specifications** • ACS, Mil-Spec (stock configuration) • Weight: 0.88 lb. • Weight, w/ Rec. Extension: 1.14 lb. • Length, Maximum: 7.95 in. • Width, Maximum: 2.58 in. • LOP Adjustment Range: 3.25 in. • LOP, M4 Collapsed: 11.75 in. • LOP, M4 Extended: 15.00 in. Cheek weld on the ACS and ACS-L is superb. |

I prefer to stick with the stock M4 type stock. Just wondering what others are on the long side like the Bushmaster is. I believe Windam Weaponry is the same length as the Bushmaster but I don't like the logo on the stock.
I am very familiar with length-of-pull as a standard measurement for rifles and shotguns but since we are talking AR's only it is simple to just measure the stock from the receiver to the butt. |
