I have a Bushmaster XM15E2S (20" HBAR A2) and just obtained a Stag H2 upper (16" flat-top). I would like to add an M4 collapsible stock, but I'm somewhat bewildered by the numerous variations. I have seen that several different companies make them, but haven't been able to get a clear idea of which is most recommended. I understand that I will need a complete kit or otherwise get a mil-spec extension. So, my questions are ...

1 - Which of the standard M4 stocks is best?

2 - What tools are needed remove the standard stock and install the M4?

Thanks for your assistance!

Colt, but Stag/CMT & LMT both make excellent copies.

Removal of the A2 requires a large flat blade screwdriver and a wrench (strap wrench will work - but  a USGI barrel wrench has a slot specifically that fits on the end, a proper sized open end wrench will work as well).

Installation of the Telestock requires a CAR stock wrench - these can vary in cost from $5 on up.  Some people skip this and just tighen it down by using a punch and hammer on the slots that the wrench is to fit into.  The punch can then be used to stake the castle nut in place.
