Some may already know this, but some may not. Just thought I would share to help others out. When it comes to ID’ing N1 stocks from a photo in an auction or listing, its frustrating if the seller doesn’t mention if its an N1 or post a pic of the markings. To my knowledge, all N1 and non-marked N1 Colt stocks (yes, they exist) have three mold marks on both sides. I’ve yet to see any repros with these marks. I have gotten lucky on a couple by buying them from pics alone before waiting for verification as to it being N1 marked or not. I just got my first non-marked stock on a GB auction. Here it is along with a marked stock. Sometimes the lighting has to be just right to see them.

I had a commercial sized CAR stock for awhile, it had the mold circles on it also. IIRC, there were only 2 rather than 3. Neither of my M&A Parts stocks had them. ETA: not the best pics, all I could dig up. There are 2 mold circles, the one closest to the receiver is very faint. Also, comparing to 2 Colts that I have the circles on this stock are at minimum 2X larger. The profile on the sling attachment is  also.
