| Now I have heard from a few people that colt no longer makes their AR's that another company makes them and Colt just stamps their name on them. Is this true..? |
|
Quoted: People who buy crappy guns from companies like DPMS, RRA, and others attempt to justify their purchases by claiming that ALL AR15s including colt are made by the same manufacturer and they just stamp their names on them. It's delusional nonsense Correct, unless he is talking about the Umarex .22lr rifle. |

sadly it was probably a member here that told him

Even the strangest rumors sometimes hold a grain of truth. It is widely known that NO AR MAKER makes every part of the completed rifle. In fact, some don't make anything. They buy receivers with their name on them and put together rifles. Nothing wrong with this, it's done in every form of manufacturing. I have no idea how Colt's comes out in that deal. I do know they have out-sourced receivers, barrels and many other parts just like everybody else. If I had to guess, I would venture that FN makes the highest number of parts in their branded AR-type weapons. |

They don't outsource receivers or barrels, they are machined in house. |

Quoted: I have seen Colt receivers with different forge marks on them, wouldn't that be considered outsourcing?Quoted: Quoted: Now I have heard from a few people that colt no longer makes their AR's that another company makes them and Colt just stamps their name on them. Do you know of any AR manufacturers that forge in-house? |

I would think that Colt makes just as many parts in house as FN does. |

I ithnk the point was having another shop actually make the finished product for them, which is not what happens |

Last I checked, Cardinal Forge, Anchor Harvey, etc. don't make ARs. |
