First of three retros I'm doing. Waiting on parts for the others. I'll post them when done. This one has the new Brownells 14.7 retro pencil barrel.

Nice build, looks great!

I'm just curious why on "Retro Black Rifle" they picture a 652 with a type "D" buttstock but they state that it used a type "E" under the parts list?  Most pictures I find (mostly retro builds) show them with a type "D", does anyone know which is correct?  Or are either correct depending on when it was made?

I just put together a very similar rifle w/a C7 upper, outstanding!  What sling did you go with?  I'm trying to figure out what options to go with for a simple, somewhat 'correct' piece.

I think the "Field Expedient Sling" is what is needed also.

I really like what the OP put together,
Well done.

GP straps make the best slings

Love me some fixed stock carbines! (The M4 works really well with an A1 stock too, BTW.) PLus 4 on the GP sling. Best sling out there. Send m1sniper a message.

I noticed that too. Anyone know the answer?

IIRC, Type 'D' is correct - likely because they were an export item, and Colt was likely using up stocks of 'D' buttstocks. Note the flat slip ring also... typical export kind of stuff. I prefer the Type 'D' myself anyway - feels slimmer and lighter for some reason.
