A guy at work tells me he has a Colt AR15 that he aquired from a Uncle that had recently passed. And he asks me what one would be worth and would I want to buy it? So I ask him what model is it? And he says he has no idea but if I want it I can give him what ever I think it is worth or sell it for him. He says he has no need for it?  He said he would bring it tommorrow.

Obviously you'll want to figure what model/year it is, and more importantly what condition it's in(barrel, BCG, etc). You can always take pictures and post them up here so the other blokes can help you.
As far as buying it, it sounds like this guy dosen't know much, if anything about AR-15. I would say, be honest with the price your willing to pay, and don't flip this bloke a quarter for his dead uncles rifle, you know? Do you already own a Colt of some sort? If not, I'll just add that I recently picked up a 6920, and am enjoying it thoroughly
