Is there a chart of all of the Colt AR15 Production Code Stamps (the symbols on the upper receiver such as the square, the keyhole, the anchor, the cardinal forge etc, and any other info? Are the stampings only an indicator of where the receivers were made? Do the stamps have to match and or is one considered better than the other? Any info is appreciated. Thank you. |

The forge markings on uppers, in general, do NOT tell you who made the upper; only who made the raw forging that someone else took and made into a finished piece. There are exceptions to this. Both Cplt and FN have individual markings (C and F) along with the forge marks. Armalite I believe also has a distinct mark on their uppers, and Rock River has recently started marking their uppers; though I have two RR uppers from a few years back that only show the forge mark. |
