I'm a noob and would like to know if the Colt AR-15 LE6920 will handle 5.56 Nato as well as 223Rem ammo?

Thank You!

Yes.

Whatever is stamped on the barrel of any rifle is the cambering.
The Colt should say 5.56, therefore it can shoot both 223 and 5.56

Yes it can, if you look on the barrel it say 5.56

Yes, as the others have said. If you can find it at a reasonable price, I would suggest 5.56 855 green tip for getting it dialed in and get some 223 for plinking.

Which would be better 5.56  55 grain or 62grain?

Get both and see what your rifle shoots better, then stock up.

Better for what?

55 grain m193 fragments better in shorter distances, and 62 grain m855 penetrates better at longer distances.

My LE6920 throws 64gr the best but I am only 500 rounds into owning this gun. As others have said, buy a decent variety and see what your barrel handles best. Since the "panic" set in I have seen stores carrying 45gr 5.56, 50gr .223, 55gr .233, and 75gr .223. The stores are ordering whatever they can just to make money off the panic buyers.

There is a whole 'nother world regarding barrel twist-rates. I believe that a 1/9 is best with lighter grains and the 1/7 the heavier ones...? But NOW is the time to find out what to use and to get some. Soon we will not have the luxury of practicing and dinking around. In German "Der Wolf Ist An Der Tur" - The Wolf Is At The Door. Over sixteen trillion in debt says so. That's SIXTEEN THOUSAND BILLION - with each billion a thousand million. Chump change...?

Agreed, it's hard to go plinking when I know I will have a hard time replacing the ammo. My wife wants to go shoot her DPMS so I know my stock will be thinned out shortly.
