Looking at preban colt SP1 Sporter...FFL has the original owners receipt to go with the sale,,,,,BUT The barrel shows no marking !!!!! Colt says it should be a 1:12 twist,,,,I thought all colt barrels were marked Thanks Joe |
| My reference states that there were 18,000 barrels made by Winchester for Colt that weren't stamped but it's not clear whether these went to M-16s or civy AR-15s. It does say that these were 1/14 twist, and that when they went to 1/12, barrels so-marked, and were stamped from then on.The same reference states that there were no SPs made with 1/14 twist. How about the barrel born-on date under the handguard and just fwd of the receiver? Should read mm/yy. |
