What lower matches the old Colt grey uppers the best? I have an upper that I wanted to mate to a lower and the new lowers these days are normally very black.

Unless you're planning on getting a pre-ban Colt or an Essential Arms you're pretty much out of luck. All of the post-ban lowers out there now are generally black except for the custom variants.
