I have a quick question about the LE6920MPS-B. I'm very new to the AR and am looking for something out of the box that I will be happy with...just to get my feet wet. I'm looking at the LE6920MPS-B model, but have a question about the roll marks.
Does this model have the law enforcement/government use restriction printed on it? I've seen some pictures with it and some without it. I know many desire this marking, but I'd rather it not be there to save any headaches in the future with others. I've also read the legally, civilians can purchase and possess these, but the last thing I want to do is have any issues with them. Thanks! |

Some of the older Colt LE6920s had the markings, but Colt has not done those markings for quite some time now. I have a LE6920 that I bought in 2008 that has the "restricted for law enforcement/government use only" markings on it. My 2013 Colt LE6920MP-B does not have them. Besides, even if Colt still used these markings, there is nothing to be paranoid about. These are semi-auto ARs that are produced for civilian sales. They are perfectly legal to own. There are no issues whatsoever. There is a number of people that are paranoid about these markings and there is no cause to be. |

The markings were put on not long after the 6920's were released some time ago. Colt did this because initially they didnt want the guns sold to civilians....and sent letters to FFL's stating such. I believe under penalty of canceling future orders. Colt didn't think civilians should own these guns. One of a long, long list of fucking stupid decisions Colt has made over the years. They finally decided to remove the LE restriction markings and several years ago the 6920 was the AR de jour. Now with comparable and better guns available, Colt has zero allure for me. The 6920 is still a good gun and is typically recommended by some for those seeking a 1st AR. So for me, I wouldn't own one simply by virtue of why those markings were put on the guns in the first place. That and there are a bunch of more desirable AR's now....so the 6920 is dead to me. |

It's funny how different people differ in viewpoint. Me I loved buying the Colts with the le roll marks. I looked at as a big fu to them and their silly rules. To me it's like rubbing thier nose in it. It says look see I'm a regular Joe but I still got one. Or I guess I could have just spent my money elsewhere as a financial fu to them. Anyhow op. Good choice for a first AR. Like others have said, the le roll marks have been gone from new production 6920's for a few years now. Enjoy your new purchase. |
Made in 2011 Colt model LE6920 lower receiver marked "SPORTER M4 CARBINE" have no LE markings on the right magwell.
Colt LE6920 made in 2012 with lower receiver marked "M4 CARBINE" also have no LE markings on the right magwell. Quoted:
I believe the leo/import roll marks went away 2011-2012, so if the rifle is a new production no leo markings. You're correct, the factory started to not mark the lowers with LE restricted markings starting in 2011 to 2012. The last ones with the LE restricted markings was the lowers marked "Colt's Law Enforcement Carbine" made in 2013 and was discontinued the following year. All Colt current production civilian AR models doesn't have any LE restricted markings. For guys doubting the durability and performance of Colt carbines check this thread out about a machine gun rental in Vegas that converted semi auto M4 carbine to full auto, they all perform very well as expected. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_118/677135_High_round_count_AR_M4_s__over_100_000_rounds__and_how_they_have_handled_on_our_range.html |
