Looking to purchase my first Colt AR-15. I'm looking at one... the model number on the box is LE6940001 and not just LE6940. Any idea what the difference between the two is, if any?
(My search results came up empty. My apologies if this was covered already.) If you'd like to give any other advise for a first-timer, that would be great! Thank you! |

I have the LE6940 and absolutely LOVE it! It's extremely accurate and I've put about 6000 rounds through it without a single problem. Buy it while you can!

This is a semi-educated guess but may help.
LE6920 (Yes I know the OP asked about 6940) There was a 6920-MP-B, came stamped M4, and had Magpul furniture There was also a 6920003 that was still called a 6920. It came stamped Law Enforcement Carbine, and came with the standard Colt 4 position stock. I have also seen a 6920 with the Rogers stock. Can't remember but think it was marked M4 Perhaps it's something like that. Slightly different roll mark and or maybe a different stock. I've seen Rogers Superstock, Magpul, and standard buttstocks on 6920's |

The LE6940 comes with the Rogers stock and M4 Carbine roll mark. The LE6940001 comes with the M4 stock and the Law Enforcement Carbine roll mark. Thats is the only differences between the 2. Perfect! Exactly what I wanted to know. Thank you!! Very helpful. |
