What model(s) of Colt's should I be looking for that have all the correct pins, pin hole sizes, no sear block, etc? Specifically in the A1 flavor? |
|
Well, I didnt think they existed at all.... but from reading: www.biggerhammer.net/ar15/coltcolors.html
So it appears these few ghosts are out there.... never seen one. Good luck finding one. Everything else they made is bastardized in one way or another. |

I am sure some of the more experienced members can answer this more accurately than I , but I will try. I do not think Colt ever released a civilian A1 type lower. All Colt lowers on civilian arms were either the so called "slick side" without pivot pin detent boss or the magazine release boss, or the newer A2 style. Of the slick side ones, many of them have normal trigger group pins but large pivot pins. Later there were A2 versions with the pivot pin and magazine release bosses and reinforced areas around the pivot pin and receiver extension areas, and these could either have the large pivot pin and small trigger group pins, or the small pivot pin and and oversized trigger group pins. They could either have no sear block, a steel sear block, or more recently not have the sear area machined at all. Hope this helps, and hope I got it right. Greg |
Actually, I'm more interested in a lower; stripped or not. To a lesser extent, I am interested in the different features of the different models. Does anyone have cross-referenced chart that lists this? |
