| What do you guy's think the chance is that colt will sell civilians brand new M4's? After the ban sunset. |
I had heard the same thing through a couple different Law Enforcement and Industry channels. The word that I last got was that Colt was considering keeping guns like the Law Enforcement M4 carbine (LE6920) and the rest of their LEO line out of the hands of civilians. The way they plan to do this is by making LE Officers continue to purchase Colt LEO firearms on Department letterhead. Some people say it can't be done, but Harley does it with motorcycles, there are certain motorcycles that only firemen and cops can buy. Is there anything illegal about these motorcycles? No, Harley just want's certain models offered to LE and Firemen only......... Now don't kill the messanger, I'm just passing along some 2nd hand info that jives with what Stickman heard. |
There's your answer. I think Ken is one of the few Colt distributers isn't he? |
You must work for the same idiot I do. Department will remain nameless because I hope to retire someday.
Colt does have CONTROL over their distributors. They could make it hard on him if he violates the 'Colt Company Policy'. Colt doesn't have to sell to him. He would be able to sell his existing inventory but may not be able to re-supply. He should keep it quiet until we find out what the policy will be after the ban dies. Colt_SBR |

14.5" barrel instead of 16" = SBR = Class III. SAW can permanently attach a Gemtech Bi-lock, though, to bring it up to 16". |
I've got one of the Colt LE6921 uppers for my registered M16, and it is sweet. |
|
Yes, but when they are only close it cost's about $200-300 to make them like we want them. We should just go out and buy a preban. No I want to call someone and have them send me a 16'' colt AR15 M4. And if colt will not I will not buy anythig more from them ever! |

Well, about teh M6400C,I am getting my rifle after the ban,so that isn't really an issue,so back to my other question.Do you have to be a class 3 dealer to buy class 3 stuff? And if I registered the rifle as a SBR,would I need to go through all the class 3 stuff? Thanks,Tyler |
That's what a 6400c is ![]() If you want the telestock, bayo lug and A2 flash hider you better look at Bushmaster or call Ken on September 15th and have him sell you a newly legal LE6920. |
|
You don't have to be a dealer to buy Class III stuff. You simply fill out the paperwork (including the fingerprint cards), have it approved by ATF and your local CLEO, pay your $200 tax stamp (full-auto, SBR, suppressor, etc) or $5 (AOW) and pick it up...usually takes about 4months for approval...give or take. If you want to register a rifle as SBR, then you have to wait until the paperwork is approved and returned to you before you cut the barrel. If you want to buy a rifle with a barrel of less than 16", the you follow the instructions above. My last NFA purchase was late last year (HRA M14) and took 5 months for approval. |
The first paragraph of my post...those instructions.
|
I take it you work for COLT? GREAT! THANKS FOR THE INSIDE INFO! Ken Must have just been blowing smoke up my ass because he wants to impress me. I'm glad someone with the REAL SCOOP could enlighten me! ![]() ![]()

Calm down, you are making yourself look stupid. Ken is saying what he believes to be true right now. Colt has the ability to simply refuse to sell to him if he violates their policies. I like Ken, and his crew, but I do NOT think Ken would sell to you if Colt said they would drop him. None of this is definate, which makes this all subjective. If it helps any, there are plenty of companies that have refused to continue to do business after a store violated one of their "rules". |
Question??? If the rifle has a 14.5" bbl from the factory won't it be already have to be registered by Colt as a Class II (AOW) and not a Class III? Being the case then only the $5 tax needed and not $200 plus time. |
Yes and no, It will the Reg's as a TITLE2 firearm and a $200 tax must be paid when transfered to you.... |
The point is COLT WON'T DROP KEN because he is one of their TOP MONEY MAKERS. There's not even a HINT of doubt in Ken's voice when He told me that he would be good to go on Non LEO sales. |
So I s'pose that means you won't buy anything from Remington because they won't sell the law enforcement line of rifles to the public (i.e. PSS, LTR, etc.). Or perhaps you won't patronize Winchester because they don't want you buying Ranger ammo. Why is it that people so readily bash Colt for doing things that lots of manufacturers do? |
