I paid a little extra to get a Colt M4 over Brand X and have 2 questions:
1. It came with an extra quick release sling swivel. I don't see any available holes on the platform to plug it in. Not on the side, not on top, nowhere! It's not referenced in the operator's manual. What is it for and where does it go? I have an optional top mount sling adaptor if I decide to use it. Otherwise, I'm entirely satisfied with the 2 point bottom sling configuration. 2. The barrel is too long to accommodate a standard M7 or M9 bayonet. Is there such a thing as a bayonet to fit an M4 with a 16" barrel? I'm guessing the answer is NO. Bayonets are only meant to go on the military 14" barrels (that whole NFA short barrel rifle thingy coming into play.) |

The Rogers Super Stock on the 2012 configuration carbines had a spot for the quick detachable swivels. They Colt dropped that stock in '13. Strange they would still include it in the accessory pack.
And yeah, the 16" barrel is too long to properly mount a bayonet. I believe you can find some with an extra thick base on eBay for way more $$$ than it's worth to have one. Welcome aboard and enjoy your new carbine! |

That QD inserts into your stock, unless they gave you the standard stock instead of the Rogers one, which is my favourite and has a hole for the QD. Answer to 2.) is unfortunately, no.

It will not work unless you have a stock with a QD hole, such as the Super Stoc or a Magpul CTR. As of 2013 they are shipping 6920s with the M4 stock. I don't see a purpose for a bayonet on a carbine. YMMV |

My 6940 came with the swivel too and I have the Magpul Stock, but I didn't look for a place to put it. It also came with 4 rubber deals I guess are covers for the Rails? The point I wanted to make with my reply is, that mine came with a lug for a Bayonet, so I was wondering where you get one? Someone said Ebay, so I will check it out. Do I need one? No, but I still want one, I think it would be cool, lol
