I have a Colt Match Target Lightweight and I noticed that the buffer is plastic.  Anyone had any problems with it and would I be better off switching it to something different...maybe an H Buffer or something else?  It does have a small hole on one side that when assembled with it facing down catches the buffer retainer when removing and makes it difficult to take out the rest of the way.   And...does anyone have recommendations for a replacement?

Change it out.  Get a conventional buffer.  There have been pics of cracked Polymer buffers posted on this site.

I had one in one of my colts, and I changed it out.

Thanks for the illiterate mumble, but the issue is not specification.  Rather, the black polymer buffers are prone to cracking.  And when they crack they can deform and jam up in the buffer tube.

When and in what models did Colts ship with plastic buffers? I hope this was a mistake of the past.

Not sure!

They went into civilian guns for the most part.  I don't think you'd find them in a LE gun.
I don't know if there was a polymer carbean buffer too or just the A2.

My Match Target Competition H-Bar II had one in it's fixed stock. Dumped when I switched to an ACEM4 SOCOM.

ADCO has a LMT H Buffer.  Would that work ok in this rifle???

It's a cost cutting measure.  Colt has taken a few others in the past on their civilian line of rifles.
