Not shown is an early original Colt 3x20 scope that is perfect as well
This SP 1 is absolutely New in Box and unfired with manual, sling 2 20 rd mags + 8 additional period correct mags in factory box of 7 new + one used 20 rd, all with aluminum followers
Test Fired at Factory only
SN#SP181647 puts production about 1983 near as I can tell
Seems 1980-84 #'s are a bit 'sketchy'
Beautiful SP 1 as it left Colt Factory...
Was a very lucky find New with numbered box, now In my personal Colt collection (purchased from  an old collector)
I mainly collect Colt SAA's ,1911's and Colt AR's only....Preban and current production

why did they use slab side lowers?
6/24/2012 5:02:46 PM EDT
[#6]
Because they did not supply the preban SP 1's with a forward assist.
Civilian AR's didn't come with forward assist until after serial # 382,000 ,roughly, after the preban SP 1  era was over.
At least that was my understanding.

$1300 Total with shipping..For a New in original Box SP 1, I thought it was a great price, and I am a Colt Authorized dealer!
I had a very early Colt 3x20 scope and it looks (and works) great on the SP 1
Couldn't be happier with this purchase..This one is in my personal collection and will be shot...Not For Sale....First new in box early 80's SP 1 I have seen since 1980!

why did they use slab side lowers?

Needed to unload the slickside lowers they had in inventory.  SP-1's were perfect for this.

OP very nice.  Should shoot like new!  Think you did alright but don't think I'd have gone there especially if I was planning on shooting it.  Two locally are asking more and not selling.
