I walked into my LEO/Mil shop yesterday and there racks and racks of FLHP Colt SP1 turn-ins. Some are in very good shape. I've always wanted a retro. So...for those retro experts...$1,100 seem right to you? Of course, I can't tell you the round cout these may have seen but the bores look great and the exteriors are in good shape given the age. What should I check (forgings/markings) before purchase.

I would look for lowest serial number as possible.
If you can find early examples with buffer tube roll pin, dimpled selector and edgewater buffer, I'd jump on it quickly for that price!
An older version I'd pass on it unless it is pristine with all original internals. (hammer, bolt carrier, etc).

In other words a little slice of heaven.

I'd look at anything that has a 3 prong flash hider, solid (no trap door) butt stock, & anything with out a forge code (C M, C H, C K) under the rear site, then go from there.
