Thinking about buying a local, mint SP1.
Serial # 113xxx.  Anyone know the year of manufacture?  1980???
It is all matching, all original.
$1,200.00, is that a fair price?
Thanks, Mike

I got a 1972 model and would be hard pressed to let mine go for that

Per your serial number, it was built in 1980.  And $1200 is the going price in my part of town.

From a quick look on the Retro Black Rifle website it looks like a 1980
You can ck out serial numbers plus lots of other good info here http://www.retroblackrifle.com/
Pictures tell the members a lot.

Carbine or rifle?
That is about what I paid for my carbine SP1.  Low mileage, a bit earlier than yours.  But well worth it in my book.

Thanks for all the replies!
It has the triangular forearm and 3 prong flash hider.
Gonna buy it today.

If it is a 1980 rifle, the 3 prong is not original...

Researched about every mark I can find.
It does look like 1980.
Everything looks original, except the flash hider, I like the flashider anyway.
Bought it today, I couldn't help myself.
Nice rifle, I'll post a pic.

Nice piece! I love the SP-1. They look and feel vintage and are really fun to shoot. They make the A-2 feel clunky by comparison. You probably won't stop at one.

I'm already wanting a 1960's SP1!

This one will never be for sale by me (unless,God forbid, one of my children needs major medical attention). You'll have to talk to my Son after I'm 6' down. But he has instructions to "keep it in the family"....

m1sniper, just curious though, what would one with such a low serial number go for?
I have no idea.

Nevered fired very early serial will command high value especially with all those accessories.  Sky is the limit in an auction environment even with our in the crapper economy.  Doubt seriously if you could get one even well used for less than $1500 with correct parts and no accessories or box.  Last one I saw NIB with higher serial, less accessories (no scope or bayo) had a $2800 price on it but no takers.  The box on that one was almost perfect.  Gonna definately be a special person to shell out those kind of coins for a collector only SP-1.  I'd almost bet shooting it one mag would knock a quick $500 off it's total value.  M1's is about as nice as they get.  I'm sure there are some just like it out there but you probably won't see them.

How does M1 correlate to SP1?
Probably a dumb question.

He has some very nice Garands also.

Hey m1, does the SP1 have a cast or forged FSB?

A local gun store has a clean, unfired 1968 in the consignment rack for $2500. Two mags, no box. Also, no nibbles in the last several months.
