Greetings fellow retro junkies. I know this question has come up alot. Havn't seen it latley, and can't figure out how to word the search right. So here go's: Is there an adapter to mate the Colt SP1 large hole uppers with the GI small hole lowers? Anyone know a good place to get one?

Yes they make adapters for large to small and vise vesrsa.

I got my small upper to large lower pin at www.bravocompanyusa.com/

they have the other ones as well.

Thanks for the info. I found some on gunbroker as well. I swear gunbroker didn't have any until after I posted this question

I would not recommend doing this.  Small pin uppers are too numerous. I only recommend an adapter if you have a large pin Colt lower (which I love!)

I have a Colt SP1 large hole upper ,that I want to put on a Nodak small hole lower. I think I found a few dif bushings that will work. What if any, downside is there with using the bushings?

The only problem there really is with the conversion pins are the fact that they are not as quick to take down as normal pins. Other than that its fine.

First of all, mounting a large hole UPPER onto a small hole LOWER, does NOT require an "adapter". I keep seeing this error over and over. The adapters are for mounting a small hole UPPER onto a big hole LOWER.

If you want to mount an early upper onto a current lower you need to install a sleeve into the upper hole---and the sleeve needs to be offset in the middle to properly match up the fit of the two pieces. Fortunately, DPMS offers the correct piece for just a couple of bucks. It's a bit of a hassle to get the installation just right, but if you put it in with a coat of good quality epoxy, or Loctite, it'll stay in place forever.
