Gentlemen,
I have a Colt sp901 with a 16" barrel. I'm maybe looking into having a 20" long range barrel made as with the sp901 I can install any AR15 upper / 6.8 / Grendel whatever on top.. The thought was to make the upper that came with the rifle a long range tool in stead of the short range battle rifle configuration the rifle came as.. I will post a pic tomorrow of its current configuration.. What barrel manufacturer would be ideal for this task?? Any thoughts or ideas are welcome, Thanks... |

Sounds like a reasonable idea. I don't know if there is anything proprietary about that barrel but if not would just try to get a hold of a Krieger or Noveske and barrel swap on your current upper.
Stick with 308 or do a 6.5CM or 260 Rem for the conversion? I have a 20" Noveske 6.5CM for my LMT MWS. I will be very curious to hear about how the mag block and standard AR uppers work on your rifle. Do you have the necessary parts to run standard AR uppers yet? |

The block for the AR15 conversion should on its way.. But with Colt one never can be sure..
As far as the barrel I don't know how its mounted into the receiver I haven't taken it apart.. The lower isn't the same as other AR308 style rifles so it wouldn't surprise me if Colt made it completely different then other variants..
Here is the rifles current configuration.. The Leupold Patrol scope is ok for short range but out to even 400 yards the scope itself becomes a liability.. http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/w506/Gtbullet/20130805_150348_zps727d819c.jpg |
