Just scored  the SP II I asked about a few weeks ago.

16inch 1x12 pencil Bbl, A1 upper, no forward assist, slab side lower, modern Bushmaster collapsible stock but I have the proper stock sitting around here somewhere. Really rough A1 grip.  8  30 round Colt mags with green followers and 1 FN mag with black follower.

Only bad part was the guy etched his SSN on the inside of the mag well.  It is barely noticeable even in good light.  I can steel wool it out with little effort.  Rifle is in good condition, hardly ever shot but moved around and banged round a lot.  Internally it is pristine.

He was asking $1,200 for it but when he couldn't sell it on gun broker twice he sold it to me for $850.  He let me pay him down half now, half at the end of the month.

I shot a couple mags through it and it won't take either OK mag I tried (too tight, failure to feed ever other round, pull mags out  re-insert , charge and bang, repeat)  Other mags worked just fine.

I need this like a hole in the head but it is one light weight rifle.

Just wanted to brag.

That's a pretty good score.

Just leave his number in it... you'll screw it up more trying to get it out than it's worth.  Write it down or take a picture of it, it can be like a hidden serial number.

As a big fan of lightweight rifles I have to say it....pics aren't working!

Congrats, nice score, PICS

My first Colt carbine was my former SPII that I bought new in '85 when they first was produced, it was my third Colt AR, my first AR was a SP1 rifle and second a SPII rifle, sold my SPII carbine in around '91 to buy a new Colt model R6530 Sporter Lightweight carbine.

Something about your description doesn't fit the way I remember my SPII carbine, mine was a 1/7 twist A2 type barrel with A2 FS, A2 pistol grip, and a Fiberlite two position collapsible stock.

The guy you got it from probably changed it to his preference.

The stock is new and I will change it out.  He said his brother replaced the barrel with a 1972 dated barrel.  So yea, a bit of changing out on parts.  Everything but the butt stock is Colt, it is just a mix.

I'll get pics up later.
