| Hello all I'm new here. I'm thinking about buying an old Colt AR-15 SP-1. As my eyes are not the greatest, I was thinking about putting a Colt 3X20 scope (or something similar) on the gun. My question is for a normal size guy it shooting an AR with a carry handle topped with a low profile scope can you still get a decent cheek weld on the gun? Is the scope so high that it is a nuisance to shoot? Thanks! |
| I can't directly answer your question, as the Colt scope I have has only resided on an SP1 carbine. The obvious conclusion though would be this...........the AR 15 stock is/was designed to allow sight alignment wth the open sights supplied on the rifle. The additional height of the Colt scope is only going to detract from the proper cheek weld. My opinion and your milage may vary. That said, I never found it too uncomfortable or difficult to shoot my carbine with the scope mounted. |
