Anyone ever use one of the Colt manufatcured Sporter .22LR Conversion kits?  Are they any good?  I know they are no longer made, but it kinda looks like a Ceiner kit. Colt Conversion Kit

I've had 1 since '90 I think it is... Works fine, just not real accurate with a barrel' bore meant to pass .224" bullets....

BTW, DPMS is currently using the Colt kit, with the chamber adpter bored in the middle to allow the barrel to slip into the doughnut and use a std 22LR chamber-barrel.

So you think it would be better just to go with a dedicated .22LR upper for better reliablity and accuracy?  I was looking at going with a DPMS M4 style .22LR upper or a CZ upper,  I just can't make up my mind!

take a look at the Kuehl upper.....I think it's the best built around.....based on a modified Ciener conversion

I picked up a Colt Sporter .22 conversion kit on the EE for $100 shipped (in the original packaging no less) and it is a hoot- a real cheap way to get into shooting rimfire from your AR.  The DMPS conversion kit is the exact same conversion, and in fact I bought a DMPS mag to have a spare.

Not as accurate as a dedicated .22 upper, but considerably cheaper.  I can shoot tighter groups at 50 yards with my 10/22 but being able to use my AR-15 on a pistol range is a lot more fun!
