And they aren't exactly common, from my shopping experiences.  Or cheap...  I had a guy, with a straight face, ask over $600 for one, just because it was in original packaging.  Whoa!

But I'm with you-I want to know more about 'em and how well they work and such.

My friend just frantically bought one at last week's gun show.

(If it says "Colt" on it...he's got to have it)

He needed to decide quickly, as the one table that was selling them for $525, sold out of them while he was filling out his paperwork.  People were lining up the second they saw them at that price.

It's a nice little gun.  Kinda feels like a high-end airsoft rifle, that uses gunpowder.  It's a very accurate replica.

It did have some (actually, much) trouble during our first test-fire session.  Mostly jams caused by failure to eject the spent case (stovepipe?)...with some light primer strikes too.

We tried different magazines (he bought several of the proprietary, and easy to load, Colt mags), and only had two brands of 22 ammo on hand to try...so more testing might be in order.

Also, read the owner's manual.  He later informed me that there is an allen key adjustment that lets you tune the recoil spring to match the ammo you're using.

He was relieved to discover that adjustment, because his new "colt" was performing worse than my Bushmaster (gasp!) with my old Ciener kit.(double gasp!).  I was able to fire hundreds of rounds without issue, until my gun simply started to gunk up.

Accuracy, offhand, did not appear to be better or worse than that of my converter.  We were both easily hitting softball sized rocks at 65 yards.

Frankly, even if I had the money to burn, I don't think I'd buy one.  When you handle it, you can tell that it's not "right", especially due to the fact that the barrel is not solid steel.  Makes the gun's front end much too light, and, in my opinion, doesn't give you the benefit of actually practicing with your chosen platform.

Now, if you're not worried about using it for training, and you just like having one of the coolest .22 made (where were these guns when we were 13?), than you might enjoy one very much.

I love mine, so deadly accurate that I brought it to a target shooting competition

I agree. We finally got some in a t a fun store here for .... $744.00!!!!!

I held them, and yes, they are kightweight airsoft feeling. I was gonna get one until I held it ( and I won't pay over 500 for one...) . I have decided I will get a Spikes dedicated upper to have a real gun instead.

Lots of friends who would never buy a 22 AR Conversion or Dedicated Upper are really excited about this new Walther/Umarex/Colt But I'm not one of them. It's funny how a name or a Sexy Picture sells things that way. I may consider one for my Grandson, He had trouble with the weight of an M4 Carbine and a Conversion. But by the next time I see him, He'll be over that. Besides, I've already got 9 Conversions and a Spike's Dedicated. Good Shooting to all those who are buying the Colt. Different Opinions make the World go Round.

How about a lightweight dedicated barrel?

Saw and handled one at the gun store......I am no expert here but seemed way overpriced. They would sell a lot of them for 450.00 or so,anything over that is too much. Spike's upper is a much better product.

I just weighed my Spike's Dedicated M4. I decked it out a little, now it weighs 8 and 1/4 lbs. A Light Weight Barrel might work if I leave everything off except Lightweight Optics. Grandson lives in Alaska so He may not be back for a while.

I really like mine since I've figured out what ammo it likes.  The lower powered stuff gives it some issues though.  The Walmart bulk pack doesn't run so well.  I found some Blazer that runs great.  Only complaint now is the magazine is a little longer than a standard ar mag.  I think I'd rather have a 23 or 25 rd. mag that was shorter.

Have wanted one since I just missed one 2 weeks ago. Went to a gun show and just missed again, "sold it last night". So on my way home I stopped at every gun store –– 50 mile drive –– and found an M16 version at my regular gun store. The were asking $650 but I told them I just missed one at the gun show at $600 and cound get it on gunbroker for $550, could the let it go for $600. I took it home! No extra mags –– missed 2 at the gun show –– but that will come in time. May get to the range with it tomorrow and will try for a range report.

I handled one at the fun shop today (they wanted about $700) and I was unimpressed.  It has a fake bolt latch/release on the side of the upper, the ejection port cover wouldn't stay closed and the whole thing just felt cheap.

I like the mags though.

I bought one for $500.00 last week at the Dallas gun show, and I finally got to shoot it today.
It ran %100 of the time, but I did have four miss fires out of 120 rounds of Federal value pack ammo.  I also shot some Aguila Super Maximum and not one miss fire with it and I shot over 200 rounds.

Some say it's over priced, but after looking at a Spikes dedicated upper that cost $100.00 more I feel it's worth what I paid for it.

I haven't handled or even seen a Colt .22lr yet but I can say something about Spikes. Their dedicated upper is pretty sweet when you get it to function properly. I had to send mine back for repairs and since it has come back it has functioned flawlessly. What can you say about Spikes their customer service is outstanding and Tom is here on AR 15.com all the time so if your having difficulty with something he will be more than happy to fix it for you and make the situation right. That's the reason I would pay the extra money.

I got to handle one (Colt) this week, less than impressed.  While I did not get a chance to fire it, it did feel more like a airsoft rifle than a AR.

Only two advantages I can possibly think of with the Colt over my Spikes dedicated upper is....

1. Less weight for my kids to shoot offhand.

2. Less expensive, but it shows.

I think I will keep my Spikes.
