Question regarding my 'new' (to me) Colt barrel:  It is stamped C MP NATO 5.56 1/5, and I know what that means.  On the top of the barrel near the upper receiver and gas tube is a C (O?).  Does this signify that the chamber and/or barrel is chrome-lined?  After some searching the answer is as ambiguous to me as ever.

I think you mean "1/7" rather than "1/5" (that's the twist rate, btw).

Yes, I did mean 1/7.  Any idea what the C (could be an 'O') represents that is stamped on the top of the breech end of the barrel?

I'm not real sure what it means specifically. However, it is a Colt proof mark.

Edit: According to the link cited above, the "O" indicates a chrome-lined chamber and bore.
