| Do all Colt barrels have them? I have a Colt M16A2 20" Govt profile barrel from one of those Tapco kits that they sold a couple of years ago. I know to look under the handguards, near the front sight base but I cant find anything. Just curious as to when the barrel was manufactured. |

Don't know when Colt started dating their barrels but I can tell you that none of the A1 or early carbine barrels I own or have seen have them. If they started dating, I have to assume it was sometime after the adoption of the A2, which might explain why your barrel doesn't have a date, if it was early production. Just a hunch though
