Actually, you can't even buy an overpriced Colt M4 upper that's the samr color any more, because Colt switched over to the darker shade some years back[:D].I have seen it posted that they did make some M4 type uppers in the old gray shade, just before going to the dark, but not having seen one myself, I pass it along as a rumor. I have no experince w/the DPMS stuff mentioned above, but if it's closer than the current Colt stuff, it's probably fairly close. |

All the border patrol guys in my area are issued M4A1's and all of them are the lighter gray shade. If someone could do some quality refinishing in the exact Colt grays ( note I said grays plural as Colt's finishing dept guys are color blind ) this would solve the problem when trying to put a flat top upper on an older pre ban Colt. I know it is easy to send off the lower to get refinished in black but I still like the gray. |

US Armory had a ton of Colt Grey flattop M4 14.5 uppers with carry handles late last summer. It was a good match for an SP1, SPII or grey sporter. He sold out fast even after raising the price twice. I paid $549 for mine and he sold the last ones for $799. I sold mine for a lot more than I paid for it. [:D] |

Let it be a rumor no more! I have a Grey Colt M4 upper. Matchs my Colt AR lower perfect [:D] Bought at least 3-4 years ago, wish I bought more cause I hate the black.
