Years ago during the ban I bought a genuine new unused Colt 20 rd. mag from a large gunshop in MI.( Jay's)
Anyway  the follower is alloy and would not lock the bolt back on last shot so being this was my first AR and first high cap it took me a while to figure out the deal.
What I found was that for some reason the rear most part of the follower that pushes the bolt stop up had been milled down .0150 from the top level surface of the follower. Sorry no camera.
Needles to say it won't push the bolt stop up far enough.
Why would Colt or anyone produce this?
I put a modified green 30 rd. follower in it, I will have to check out the Magpul site to see if they have 20rd. followers.
TIA for your ideas, this has botherd me for a while and would like to know the thinking behind this.

I actually used to have access to a bunch of USGI 20rd mags that the previous owner had grinded them down.  I never really understood why he did it, but this was on like 20+ mags.  I guess he didn't like the bolt locking back...
