Anyone have a Colt Model LE6940, I have an option to purchase one from a local dealer for $1500 NIB is this a good price on the weapon?
Here's a better question; would you buy the Colt LE6940 for $1500 or the Knights Armament SR15 for $2200,better yet is the Knights worth the extra $700 for all the goodies. Just looking for discussion. I do have one other question? do the new LE Colt's have .154 or .170 diameter FCG pins? Thanks in advance for your opinion. |

New Colt's are small pin .154
I would get the 6920 and get a Omega rail before I would buy the 6940. For a fighting rilfe I like a fixed front site. And the 6940 barrel nut is propriatary to that upper. The KAC is a whole other animal due to it being a piston type upper. |

I fell into Colts in 1991 after bad expirences with cheap AR's.. I have not looked back since or had a issue that was not my fault.
Currently own 3 colts and would highly recomend them. KAC is nice stuff but I doubt it is any better from a reliability stand point. If there are extras on the KAC rifle it may well be worth it. |
| I picked up a 6920 .154" pin this week. The fit and finish was great, what surprised me was the slick trigger. You're stuck w / that rail on 6940 which is a hard pill to swallow in my book. YMMV..... Now I'm waiting on e-mail from La Rue on when the T1s show up. |

Buy one, you'll love it.
They are available new for much less than $1,500 from multiple vendors, shop around a bit. I bought mine from Botach, $1,335.00 shipped, just don't expect them to be all warm and fuzzy in the customer service department. This was my first experience with Botach, they delivered a quality product in a timely fashion for a great price; I have no complaints, many others do though. |

The Knights comes with their mid length rail system of coarse, front and rear flip up sights, a LMT Sopmod stock, 2 stage Knights trigger, ambi safety, 1/7 chrome barrel and chamber, 16" barrel they are very nice, I just don't know what the market is, BTW I have a couple other Colts, my favorite is a 6400 MTM4 that I have a Larue free float 10" on, and used the ARMS #41BL front sight it's my go to rifle with an ACOG,had it for many years now. Thanks to everyone for all the info!!!!!! |

Thanks to everyone for all the info!!!!!! The 6940 is a nice rifle. The only thing I don't like about it is that you can't make any changes to it. You can't put a longer rail on it, put a different barrel on it, have it cut down, or put another FSB base on it unless or until they come out with a barrel wrench or make new barrels for it. The SR15E3's price isn't that high considering what's on it. Prices on the parts alonge are about $200 for the stock, $150 for the trigger, $75+ for the ambi safety, $150+ for the rear sight, $70 flash suppressor, E3 bolt and barrel extension, $500 for the URX, however much a hammer forged barrel costs, and whatever the equivalent of the built in ambi bolt catch, mag releases, and rear QD sling swivels cost. Personally I like the 6920 more than the 6940. I owned one and just couldn't grow to like the front flip-up. I wish they had done either a fixed front site or a extended rail with a low-pro gas block (preferred).
I prefer the 6920 because I can alter it to my own personal preferences. As for the KAC, I absolutely love mine and it's a great option if you like all the extras it comes with. The only downside is the proprietary parts. The benefits far outweigh this though. It's probably my favorite rifle, at least until I get my 11.5 BCM upper with KAC URX from Neil @ Gun Gallery |

Dustin Thanks for reminding me about the hammer forged barrel and E3 bolt, ambi bolt catch and QD's, that is one bad ass rifle, I want both, however budget won't allow, if $2200 is a fair market price, then I might just go with the SR15E3.
