I have found a Colt AR15 that I really want, but I don't know much about it...
Its an LEO marked 20 inch rollmarked AR15A2 HBAR. It has a 1in7 HBAR with the necessary C and MP markings. It also has the latest style of lower and a bayont lug. It has a Colt AR15 BCG, but not the "civilian" model with the lower lip of the carrier removed. Obviously, it also has no sear block. I believe it to have standard FCG pins. I would rate this gun at about 95% condition. It looks like like an ex LEO patrol rifle, carried here and there but shot very little. There are a few scuffs on the barrel, but its condition is outstanding. However, I have never seen or really heard about these guns. 6520's, 6721's and of course 6920's are commonly seen, but I have never seen a 20 inch like this. Most of the 20's I see have SP1 type lowers, or no bayonet lugs/fh's, 1x9 twist barrels and are usually Sporters. I can't say that I have ever seen a 20 inch LEO Marked AR15A2. Would this be a 6601? If not, what model is this? Are they rare because they are few and far between or are they rare like the Colt 2000 because they suck? I have really wanted a 20 inch A2 and I don't think theres a better one out there. To get it, I will have to trade my beloved Sig 556 ER. I really like the Colt, but it seems like the Sigs are selling for a good deal of money right now too. Can anyone help me make sense of this? Whats the deal with this rifle? Is it a factory gun or something someone put together? If someone built it, its a Colt upper/lower/BCG,FS and more...Any idea when these rifles were made? They don't seem to be offered with Colt's LE line anymore. What do you think about trading the Sig 556 for it? 20 inch guns dont seem to be super marketible and I don't know if that will change. People are carbine crazy...Were I to get this gun, I would go to SAW and get a Colt flat top upper, get a KAC quad rail and a USMC ACOG. Even though it has an HBAR, this would still be a cool A4 clone. What do you guys think about this? |
| The rifle in question is a 6601. Colt produced these in the mid to late 90's during the ban. I don't believe there were a large number produced, 20 inch guns don't fit in squad cars to well. It should have large .170 diameter FCG pins. As for getting rid of the Sig, I can't say whether it will be a wise financial move or not. Personally I don't care for the Sig and would trade it for a Colt any day. Hope this helps. |
