I apologize if I'm flogging a dead horse. I've searched here (and everywhere), but come up with very little.

Are these the only differences between the CompM3 and CompM2?
Compm3:
Submersible to 135 ft. (45m) instead of 75 ft (25m)
Comes with replacable outer black rubber cover
Choice between 2 MOA and 4 MOA
500,000 hr battery life on NVD setting as opposed to 100,000

I'm not going to be diving with my rifle
The extra battery life would be nice, and I can't decide between 2 and 4 MOA...

Which one would you recommend, and why?

I've got an M2 and am happy w/ the 4MOA.  Having said that I would go w/ an M3 or ML3 (if you don't plan on using NVD) w/ a 2MOA (better for long range work).  The 50,000 hour life is also very nice.  However it is soley up to you whether you can justify the costs of 50000 vs. 10000 and having a smaller dot.  To me it isn't worth it but YMMV.  And as far as the outer cover goes....I could care less about that.

Does anyone with 2MOA reticles have trouble finding the dot when shouldering the rifle? I'd think even a small dot would stand out, and would be easier for longer-range work, but a 4MOA dot still seems small. I'm going to generally be shooting from 10-100 or 200 meters with the sight.

I also have a M2 model and I'm satisfied with it mostly for close work and rarely up to 200 yd.

If you're going for more distance and are going to use a 3X magnifier or would like a smaller than the 4 MOA dot, the M3 with 2 MOA model would be a better choice.

The 100,000 hr battery life of the M2 is not bad it could take several years to use a set of battery but if you want more that that and going to use it for close range then the M3 4MOA model is the one you should look at.
