I am in the market for a 1(ish)x4 Illuminated Reticle Scope and was just looking for some insight from this great forum.
I've owned a Burris MTAC on my S&W M&P15OR and was pretty satisfied with it. But I thought this time I'm going 'higher end', notice it's in quotes. I found the MTAC on sale for $309 (refurb) from Midway when I bought it, just glad I didn't pay full retail for it looking back. I also say 1 "ish" because the Leupold etc are actually 1.25 or 1.5x - whatever. Anyway, now I'm running a Colt LE6920 and the idea of the Leupold VX-R series really caught my eye reading some reviews on here and several places. I just recently, by reading this site some more, found the Leupold Mark AR series is now coming with the G-Illuminated (only assume the g stands for Green Dot) instead of red. I found the VX-R Hog in stock at Midway for $479 in the 'Pig Plex' reticle. I like the Pig Plex (even though I'm not hog hunting) because of the thicker reticle and the few hold points or 'lead' points it has. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/194133/leupold-vx-r-hog-rifle-scope-30mm-tube-125-4x-20mm-fire-dot-pig-plex-reticle-matte I've seen this thread here to, on the front page none-the-less, but it appears nobody is comparing the VX-R to the Mark AR. Maybe it's to new or something. So my question I guess is - Is there anything in the ~$500 price budget that you would look at other than the Leupold VX-R and Mark AR w/ Illuminated Reticle? Also, running the Colt 6920 now, the front sight is staying, will throw the new scope in a QD lever mount and run the Magpul MBUS. Do you guys recommend anything over this Larue? http://www.laruetactical.com/larue-tactical-sprm4-193-mount-qd-lt-135 I like it because I've read where it will raise it up a tad bit higher to further eliminate the 'ghosting' to not bother people so much. Anyway - I'm open to ideas. Thanks in advance. |
