Hey everyone.
New to the AR world in terms of building them. I had an idea that involved the URX II W/ integrated sight (If I can find one) and a mid length gas system on a 16" (maybe pencil see below) barrel. I have seen conflicting sources about the mid length gas block not being able to fit at all or, needing very specific types of low profile gas blocks to work. The second question I have is an odd one and I understand that. But I wanted a bit of a certain look and was hoping to get that by making the barrel look thicker. I had the idea of using one of the slip over 5.5" XM-177 Moderators used to make the retro rifles. I want to keep the 16 inch barrel, rather than cut and pin. I also read you need a pencil barrel for those XM-177 slip overs? So I was hoping to get opinions and advice on that. If its "well its not perfect, but you like the look-- great" thats good to know, but I also want to make sure I'm not going down the rabbit hole of "Not only is it not practical, it would be distressingly loud/nasty/unpleasant to shoot." yes its for aesthetics but I also don't want something I don't enjoy using. Thank you in advance. You don't need to be gentle. I'm wearing my cup. Ive tried googling a lot of this but for every answer I find I end up with another question. That's my way of saying I'm sorry if this comes up a lot. |
