So far i'm close to making my mind up for a upper rec (pof), not sure yet if i want to go with 14.5 or 16".
I haven't much research on a lower rec. I was told that Kaiser defense is pretty good, and spikes tactical. It seems there are different version of stocks that you can get, buffers, 2 stage triggers. What does a 2 stage trigger do? I noticed it's more expensive. Thoughts, opionions and suggestions of other brand you guys are familiar with. Thanks. |
A lower from any of the reputable dealers listed above will do. A stripped lower will be anywhere from 100.00 to 400.00. Buy what youy can afford but save for the other goodies you will want. Noveske LMT Stag RRA DPMS Bushmaster CMMG AERO Precision Essential arms MEGA and I am sure I left out some others. All of these will work for a first Build. Good Luck!
A Two Stage trigger is nice to have but if this is your first you probably don't need one. |

If this is your first AR, I wouldn't pay more than $150 for a lower. I have Spike's, Essential Arms, and Stag lowers in my safe. All are very good and have assembled quickly and easy and function with my uppers.
If you dig the spider, get a Spike's. If you're a cat guy, buy a DPMS or Armalite. Do not buy a Hesse, Vulcan, or Blackthorne lower. If you want no-frills, with no animals or fancy logos, Essential Arms and High Standard are the way to go. Two-stage triggers theoretically improve the trigger feel by reducing grit and weight, resulting in greater accuracy. Many (most?) two-stage triggers are less reliable than the typical "mil-spec" counterpart. IMO, unless you're shooting match ammo through a match-grade upper, a two-stage isn't necessary. |
