I got a couple stripped lowers and would like to build them with as many ambi controls as possible. I shoot long guns left handed and my two youngs boys appear to be left handed. The lower will be for them in the future and me in the mean time :)

Do they make ambi lower part kits or do you have to get a standard kit and replace half of it with ambi stuff from different makers? Who all makes ambi parts and which ones fit on standard lowers? Its only three parts (mag release, bolt release, safety selector) but they add up.

Here's what you need.

1. Troy Ambi magazine release;
2. Magpul BAD lever;
3. BAD ASS selector lever.
4. Bravo Company Ambi charging handle

With those things, you'll have a perfectly ambi lower.

You can move $$$ around going with a standard (i.e. Spikes) ambi selector, and invest that in a Raptor charging handle.  As a lefty there is no better option.

I will say that the standard magazine release is a lefty feature.  When holding the rifle by the pistol grip in the left hand use the right thumb to release the magazine, drop/pull the magazine out, insert fresh magazine, hit BAD lever with the right thumb.  Makes for a slick and fast reload.

About the BAD lever... it works just fine, but mine got loose and I've has to retighten it a few times.  Look into the Phase 5 1-piece unit that does the same thing hte BAD lever does but does not clamshell the standard bolt catch, it replaces it instead.

Your other choice is to buy the Santan Tactical fully ambi lower.  Just completed a build on it and they are NICE.  I bought the "Grenade" (read blemished, suppsosedly) with the BAD-ASS and the BAD takedown pin upgrades.  By the time you buy the stuff mentioned above you start approaching what these billet lowers come with anyway.  The regular price is $290 for a non-blem, the blem (Grenade) is $230, but they don't kill discount codes too much and I just checked, you can use the one I did which is "AR15news4Pres" and it knocks the price down to $200.  Price out all the stuff above and see where you are compared, as all it needs is the safety, FCG, and takedown pins (just FCG if you get the BAD-ASS and pins like I did).  They ship pretty quickly as well.

POF 415/6 lower is fully ambi if you add a ambi safety

I recently did this with a Seekins SP223 billet ambi lower.  The lower already included an ambi bolt release, meaning no BAD lever or the like was not necessary.  I also added the Norgon Ambi mag release(I liked it more than the troy) and a BAD ASS(yeah that is actually what its called) ambi safety.  I also put a Raptor ambi charging handle up top on the upper receiver.  Then I went a step further and put a thumb stop on both sides of my rail as well(both in exactly the same spot but mirrored).  I built it specifically to be all ambi and accomplished my goal quite well.  About 1000 rounds later she is running strong, the only down side is now I want an ambi bolt release on all my AR's.

I don't see the point of a BAD lever on a lefty receiver. The shooter's index finger should be able to reach the standard bolt catch.

Actually aero and lwrc are the only real ambi lowers. The others just have a bolt release, not a bolt hold open feature.

AXTS has both ambi bolt and mag release controls and a bolt open hold feature they call A-DAC.

I am sure there are many others that have just bolt and mag ambi controls.
