Compressed copper rounds are for training on steel.

Thanks

I take it they are not good for self defense?

They actually require a very hard surface to turn to dust again, like a steel target.  I've seen them smoke through thin stuff like FMJ.

That is correct, they are a poor choice for self defense.

What about those Barnes no lead bullets? They are copper...Silver State Armory 70gr Triple shock x hollow point. Can ya shoot them in a AR15?
"When the bullet expands, four razor-sharp cutting petals are created, allowing the bullet to penetrate farther through tough bone and tissue. These bullets usually retain 100% of their original weight, making them a superb choice for hunting"

That's different.  Yes, you can shoot them.  They are longer than a lead based bullet though since copper weighs less.

Good bullet.  It's not 'compressed copper powder' like the ones the OP asked about.  More like a solid copper HP.

The 85gr TSX is a favorite of the 6.8 crowd.

Depends which "BARNES NO LEAD" bullets he's talking about.  The MPG and MIL/LE are indeed a jacketed frangible type lead free bullet from Barnes.

Regardless though... they'd make a less than optimal defense bullet.

Yeah but he was asking about the triple shock.

Their discription on it sounds like it would tear up your ass pretty good to me....
