Okay I am a little confussed on the distance you put your target out to zero your AR15. I had measured it one time and for some reason I can not remember what it is. I am useing the military type 25 meter zreo target to zero my Bushy.

I went out last weekend and tried to zero it but the target holder I was shooting at with my target on was 25 yard's away. I know this is not the correct distance and I am trying to figure out what is the correct distance is from the fireing position to the target.

I think the target should be set out to either 27 or 30 feet to actually zero useing the military 25 meter zreo target, couyld someone please let me know if this is correct or not and if not give me the correct distance.

If you wanna get crazy, ideally you should zero at 50 meters. and what is it, 3.2 feet in a meter?

25M - 27yards 1 foot.

However you are MUCH better off zeroing at 50y.

We zeroed at 25M in the Army...in theory, the 5.56mm round passes through the same line of sight at 25M and 250M.

That being said, if you want to sight-in at 25 yrds (as I did this afternoon), you'll need to scale your target on a copier to 93% of it's original size. Then, the grid will work for you.

That is NOT how it works.  The 25m/250M zero assumed you were using an A1 and you used the 'L' aperture to zero, but the UNMARKED aperture to shoot.

The L aperture gave a 25M/325M zero, while the unmarked aperture produced a 43M/250M zero.

The Details are VERY important.

Zero at 50 yds then you will be right on at 250 yds.Use the small arperture for day light and large when at night.I also like to use the santose zero on the rear sight.I cahange the levation so at 8/3 the rear sight is still 2 clicks high.So at 8/3 you can still go down 2 clicks to bottom out. Then all I have to do is use the front sight to adjust for elevation after the rear sight is centered.

Don't worry about it unless your shooting an upper with a 20" barrel using field/A1 style sites and aperture.

Even then I'd zero at 50y as it's pretty close to the 43m/250 zero and my range has a target position for 50y.  If I want to zero at 25M I'd had to measure it.

And, you're correct.  (I should have found out what model he uses)

I am shooting a Bushy carbine with a 16" barrel, I am heading back out to the range today and I will work on some.

Zero at 50y.  If you have an A2 upper or a detachable carry handle you might want to try the Santose Improved Battlesight Zero (at the link I posted earlier).  It's a 50y zero - but it shows how to get your handle calibrated so the numbers are accurate (i.e. 3=300M 4-400M and so on..).

Follow Forests' advice on this one...

At 50 YARDS...point of aim should be the same as point of impact.

Simple is good.

Zeroing at 50yds gives you +/- 2" of POA from 8-220m.
