I don't know if this question belongs in this forum but it is about as close to building myself as I dare get right now (only about a year of AR experience). My current setup is a stock Bushmaster Predator (20" barrel, xm15e2s lower) that I love (coyotes on the other hand hate it  ). I have been considering getting a different upper receiver and barrel (chrome lined and probably iron sights) for when I just want to go to the range and get some trigger time in. Can I simply get another complete upper and use it with my existing lower receiver without changing the buffer spring? I have been looking at 16" mid-lengths or 16" M4-type uppers.
