| I've been reading quite a bit and just finishing up my first ar15 build. Last of the parts will be in next week and I'll be much happier. I'm wanting to get a 22 conversion for it and eventually convert that to a dedicated upper/rilfe. Is it possible to just use the conversion bolt/kit to build a dedicated up later? I see CMMG listed alot of conversion kits and I assume that means their one of the better ones. Are there others that are comparitively good? I'm looking at ordering some mags to start and hold them till I get the conversion kit. I've seen some stock on the Black Dog mags still out there, are they decent with most kits? |
| CMMG make very good conversions and the Stainless come highly recommended. The 1:9 twist usually give better accuracy than the 1:7 twist. My 1:9 twist exhibits fliers which will spoil the group. For CQB drills and for steel plates the conversion kits work pretty good. Just run a bore snake through the barrel after shooting rimfire and fire a couple 223 rounds to clean the crap out of the gas system. |
